The VR Challenge: A Mission to the Moon

We will invite 50 students from Los Angeles to compete with 50 students from Oakland to develop the best VR app, or game idea that features animated African American characters, or figures in a mission to the Moon, or Mars. Participants will come together and form into teams of (5) for 24 hours to create VR content using the Oculus Rift headsets. The Hackathon is an opportunity to learn, and experiment with new technologies such as Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality,  even to learn code from scratch.

WHO CAN ATTEND?

High school students ages 13-19 from Los Angeles and Oakland , California.

DO YOU NEED CODING EXPERIENCE?

Absolutely Not! The We Are Code VR Hackathon is a great opportunity to learn code and get advise from mentors who will give you guidance throughout the coding process. But experienced coders should be able to build their ideas without an experienced hacker.

Some sort of photo ID, a laptop computer, and a charger. If you do not have a computer, no problem,we can provide you with one to use for the competition.
